VIVA Beaumont — Celebrating Hispanic Heritage in Southeast Texas
VIVA Beaumont is the City of Beaumont's free annual celebration of Hispanic heritage — folkloric dancers, live bands, Lucha Libre, food trucks, and community in downtown Beaumont each September.
VIVA Beaumont is one of Southeast Texas's most energetic and culturally rich community events — a free, outdoor festival celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month with folkloric dancers, live bands from across Texas and beyond, Lucha Libre wrestling, approximately 10 food trucks, and the warm community spirit of downtown Beaumont's Main Street Plaza. Hosted by the City of Beaumont and now in its fifth year, VIVA Beaumont has become a September anchor event for the entire Golden Triangle. The 2026 edition runs September 13, 2026, from 3:00–8:00 PM — and the 2027 edition will follow a similar format.
About VIVA Beaumont
VIVA Beaumont is the City of Beaumont's official celebration of National Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15–October 15). The festival takes place at Main Street Plaza in downtown Beaumont, between the Julie Rogers Theatre and the downtown public library — a central, accessible location that makes the event feel genuinely civic. The event is completely free and open to the public. No outside alcohol, tents, canopies, large umbrellas, pets, or cooking equipment are permitted, but food trucks provide ample dining options on-site.
Entertainment: Dancers, Music & Lucha Libre
The entertainment lineup at VIVA Beaumont reflects the rich diversity of Hispanic cultural expression: - Folkloric Dancers: The Hispanic Heritage Society of Port Arthur provides traditional Mexican folkloric dance performances — colorful, athletic, and beautiful - Live Music: Past editions have featured Houston-based bands and local acts, with a musical range spanning traditional Latin forms to contemporary styles - Lucha Libre Wrestling: The traditional Mexican masked wrestling presentation is a unique and popular attraction — theatrical, athletic, and genuinely entertaining for all ages The entertainment runs throughout the afternoon and evening, with multiple acts performing across the 3:00–8:00 PM window.
Food and Community
Approximately 10 food trucks participate in VIVA Beaumont, offering a range of food options. The downtown plaza setting allows attendees to get food and settle on a blanket or lawn area to enjoy the entertainment. The event is family-oriented — children are welcome and the afternoon hours are specifically designed for family attendance before the evening programming takes over. The community aspect — neighbors, civic leaders, cultural organizations, and newcomers all sharing the same downtown space — is central to the event's appeal.
Hispanic Heritage in Southeast Texas
Southeast Texas has a significant Hispanic community, particularly in Jefferson County and the surrounding region. Port Arthur, Beaumont, and surrounding communities have long had established Hispanic neighborhoods, businesses, and cultural institutions. The Sabine Area Restaurant Association and various chambers of commerce include active Hispanic business member communities. VIVA Beaumont is a celebration that honors this heritage and the contributions of the Hispanic community to the region's economy, culture, and civic life.
