How to get more reviews for your business
Copy your review link and a ready-made message from your dashboard, send it to customers, and reply to each review on your profile.
Updated
Your dashboard gives you a review link that opens the review form on your profile, plus a short message you can paste into a text, email, invoice or receipt. Send it to customers after a job well done. Each review appears on your profile after a quick check by our team, and you can reply to it from your dashboard.
Copy your review link
From the Overview
- Open your dashboard (see /help/owner-dashboard).
- In the Get more reviews card, click Copy review link. The button changes to Copied!.
From the review kit
- On your dashboard, click Reviews next to your business, or Open the review kit in the Get more reviews card.
- At the top of the Reviews page, the Get more reviews section shows Your review link.
- Click Copy link to copy it, or Preview to open it yourself in a new tab.
Your review link is your profile address with #leave-a-review on the end, for example https://www.southeasttexasbusinessdirectory.com/businesses/your-business#leave-a-review. It opens your profile at the Leave a Review form.
Send the suggested message
Under Suggested message you get this text, with your business name and link filled in:
Thank you for choosing your business name! If you have a minute, we'd love a quick review on the Southeast Texas Business Directory. It helps other customers in the area get to know us: your review link
- Click Copy message.
- Paste it into a text message, an email, an invoice or a receipt. Edit the wording however you like before you send it.
Good moments to send it: right after you finish a job, with the invoice or receipt, and in your email signature.
What your customer sees
The link opens the Leave a Review form on your profile. Your customer:
- Picks a star rating under Your Rating (required).
- Types Your Name and Email. The email stays private.
- Optionally writes Your Review (optional), up to 1,000 characters.
- Clicks Submit Review and sees "Thank you for your review! It will appear once approved by our team."
Each email address can leave one review per business.
Reply to your reviews
- On your dashboard, click Reviews next to your business.
- New reviews that are still being checked show as a note such as "1 new review is being checked by our team." Approved reviews are listed below it, newest first.
- Under a review, click Respond, type your reply (up to 1,000 characters), and click Submit Response.
- To change a reply later, click Edit Response, edit the text and click Update Response.
Your reply shows under the review on your profile, labelled Owner Response with the date.
Bring in your Google reviews
The Import your Google Reviews card on the Reviews page and the Edit listing page adds your existing Google reviews to your profile, each marked From Google with a link to the original. It needs your Google Place ID (see /help/edit-your-listing).
- Click Import Reviews from Google. The card shows how many Google reviews you have and the one-time price.
- Click Confirm & Pay to pay and start the import, or Cancel.
- The import usually takes 1 to 5 minutes. We email you when it is done, and the card then shows Google Reviews Imported.
Troubleshooting
My customer says "You have already submitted a review for this business." That email address already left a review. Each email address can review a business once.
A customer left a review but I can't see it. It is being checked by our team. The Reviews page shows a note while reviews are waiting, and each one appears in the list once it is approved.
The link opens my profile at the top. Scroll to the Reviews section; the Leave a Review form is at its end. Make sure the copied link ends with #leave-a-review.
The Reviews count on my Edit page differs from my Google rating. The Reviews button counts reviews left on the directory, including imported Google reviews. The star rating near your name on the profile comes from Google.
The Google import card says there is no Google Place ID for your business yet. Add your Google Place ID on the Basic Info tab of Edit listing (use the Google's Place ID Finder link under the box), click Save Changes, then open the Reviews page again. You can also email [email protected] and we will add it.
