How to add the Verified badge to your website

Copy your Verified badge HTML from the dashboard and paste it into WordPress, Wix, Squarespace or any site builder so visitors can open your profile.

Updated

Once your claim is approved, you get a Verified badge to show on your own website. The badge is a small image that links to your profile on the Southeast Texas Business Directory, where visitors can read your reviews and find your hours and contact details. Copy the HTML from your dashboard, paste it into a spot on your site that accepts HTML, and publish.

Copy your badge code

The quick way (Medium badge)

  1. Open your dashboard (see /help/owner-dashboard).
  2. In the Add your Verified badge to your website card, click Copy badge HTML. The button changes to Copied!.

Choose a size

  1. On your dashboard, click Website badge next to your business (or More sizes and install steps in the badge card). The page title reads Verified Badge.
  2. Pick a size tab: Small (180x56), Medium (240x80) or Large (280x280). Medium is selected when the page opens.
  3. Check the Live Preview.
  4. Under Badge HTML, click Copy HTML.

You can also copy the badge from your public profile while you are signed in: scroll to Verified Business Badge.

Under the size tabs, the Text link section has a plain link that reads "your business name on the Southeast Texas Business Directory". Click Copy text link to use it in places that take a link but no image, such as a "Find us online" list.

What the code does

The badge HTML is a regular link to your profile, https://www.southeasttexasbusinessdirectory.com/businesses/ followed by your listing's address, wrapped around the badge image. It:

  • opens your profile in a new tab when clicked;
  • works on any site without extra scripts, and search engines can follow it to your profile;
  • describes the image as "your business name - Verified on the Southeast Texas Business Directory" for screen readers and search engines;
  • sets the badge's width and height, and shrinks it to fit narrow screens.

The badge shows your business name. Long names are shortened with "…" (after about 21 characters on Small, 25 on Medium and 29 on Large). When you change your business name, the badge shows the new name within about a day.

Paste it into your website

Pick a spot visitors see on every page, such as your footer, or your "About" or "Contact" page. Builder menus change from time to time, so the labels below can differ slightly on your version.

WordPress

  1. Open the page, or the footer template part, in the block editor.
  2. Click the + (Add block) button, search for Custom HTML, and add that block.
  3. Paste the badge code into the block.
  4. Click Update (or Save).

For a widget area, go to Appearance → Widgets, add a Custom HTML widget, paste the code and save.

Wix

  1. In the Wix Editor, click Add Elements (+), then Embed Code, then Embed HTML.
  2. Click Enter Code, paste the badge code, and click Update.
  3. Drag the box to where you want the badge and resize it to fit.
  4. Click Publish.

Wix shows embedded HTML inside its own frame; the badge still opens your profile in a new tab.

Squarespace

  1. Edit the page, click Add Block, and choose Code.
  2. Paste the badge code into the block.
  3. Click outside the block, then Save.

Any other builder

Look for a block named HTML, Embed, Custom code or similar, paste the code, and publish. If your builder or plan offers no HTML block, use your builder's link tool instead: add the text "your business name on the Southeast Texas Business Directory" and link it to your profile address, which you can copy from the address bar on your public profile.

Check that it works

  1. Open your website in a new browser window.
  2. Find the badge and click it. Your directory profile opens in a new tab.

Badges installed before October 2026

Earlier badge code started with <script. That code keeps working. Replacing it with the current Copy HTML code gives you the plain link that search engines read directly.

Troubleshooting

The badge page sends me back to my listing. The badge is ready once your claim is approved. See /help/verify-ownership.

My site shows the code as text instead of the badge. You pasted it into a text block. Delete it and paste it into an HTML, Embed or Code block.

The badge shows as a broken image. The code was changed after copying, often by a word processor turning straight quotes into curly quotes. Click Copy HTML again and paste straight into your website builder.

The badge looks too big or too small. Choose another size tab and copy that code, or use the Small badge in narrow spots such as a footer column.

Clicking the badge opens the profile inside a small box (Wix). Copy the code again with Copy HTML so it includes target="_blank", which opens your profile in a new tab.
